CONWAY, NH (AP) — A wildfire in northern New Hampshire that has burned 106 acres is nearly contained, authorities said Friday.
The Bemis Fire in Crawford Notch State Park, White Mountain National Forest and on private land started on May 13. It is located on steep and rugged terrain. The cause is under investigation.
“It is important for the public to know that the Bemis Fire remains an active fire scene and firefighters and crews are still on scene,” said Capt. Adrian Reyes of the New Hampshire Bureau of Forest Protection.
“This weekend is expected to bring record temperatures to the region, and we ask that anyone wishing to spend time outdoors avoid the fire area, for their own safety and for the safety of forestry personnel,” he said.
