A “still traumatized” Wanda Sykes told an audience in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday that she still can’t talk about the Oscars smackdown without getting emotional, People reported.
But the comedian, co-host of that fateful March night, still had plenty to say.
Clearly, Will Smith’s slap in the face of Chris Rock after he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head was still stoking his ire, especially when Smith looked like he didn’t mind receiving his Best Actor Oscar.
“I couldn’t believe he was still sitting there, like a jerk,” Sykes said on his show, according to People. “Shouldn’t you be sitting there with a lawyer or LAPD, motherfucker?”
Smith has been banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years and the memory of his attack is likely to linger. When comedian Dave Chappelle was accosted by a man onstage at the Hollywood Bowl last week, Rock took to the stage and exclaimed, “Was that Will Smith?”
“I hope he pulls himself together,” Sykes said. “Until then, fuck it.”
