Weather: Happy Mother’s Day, a great week ahead (and a sunny 19C high for Sunday)

The tulips will burst out of the ground in the next few days, as we experience a bit of summer in May in Ottawa, and it’s all sunshine, all the time.

As a bonus, today is Mother’s Day.

Local parks and trails were buzzing with activity on Saturday, and that will be the scene all week. Break out the sunscreen.

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather bureau forecasts sunny skies for Sunday. The wind will turn to the east at 20 km/h around noon. High 19 C. UV Index 7 or high.

Tonight it will be clear with a minimum of 2 C and risk of frost.

For Monday, it gets even better: sunny and a maximum temperature of 23 C. UV index 8 or very high.

We should see a minimum of 7 C overnight.

As for the rest of the week, the forecast is for highs of 25 C on Tuesday and then 28 C through Saturday, with no rain in sight.

The average high for this date is 17.4 C and the low is 6 C. We hit a high of 15 C on Saturday.
