Watch a car drive across the pavement and a man hit during the Ladypool Road mess

This is the moment a driver was caught on film driving down a narrow PAVEMENT as crowds gathered on Ladypool Road in Sparkbrook. The car was driven right next to store fronts and parked cars before coming to a sudden stop.

In another clip, teams of uniformed police officers are filmed surrounding a vehicle with a broken rear window. A crowd, mostly men, surrounds the damaged car and several figures can be seen sitting inside.

The images are said to have been taken around 00:45 on Monday (May 2). It was allegedly filmed as hundreds of people gathered on Ladypool Road to celebrate Eid.

West Midlands Police said they were called over reports of disorder and a collision. A man was punched and damage was caused to a car, they said.

A spokesman for the force said: “We were called to disorder following a collision on Ladypool Road at around 12.45am yesterday (Monday). A man was punched in the face but was not seriously injured, and damage was the windows of a car.

Washwood Heath Police said an operation covering Alum Rock Road and Ladypool Road was carried out during Chaand Raat and Eid. Supported by traffic bikes and drones, they said officers would tackle any anti-social behaviour, including “setting off fireworks and reckless driving”.

Those who blast music, rev engines and cause congestion that annoyed residents into the wee hours of the morning will also face action, police said. His tweet read: “Through our planning, the community has made it very clear that this is not part of the celebrations and they do not want this type of behavior…”
