Tips for solving today’s word puzzle

In Wordle there are five letters, you get six tries and if you solve it fast you can be in seventh heaven.

But the guessing game may still leave some people scratching their heads, so Newsweek has provided a few clues to get you over the line. Those with a less patient temperament can simply scroll further down this page to find the answer.

Pick a letter, any letter, and if it’s in the word, it turns yellow. If the letter is in the word and in the right place, it turns green. Easy? Well, maybe, but on the fourth or fifth try, players can be left scanning their memories for every five-letter word and letter combination they know.

The chances of getting the correct answer on the first try are only 0.5 percent according to onlineslots.com, but the answer gradually reveals itself with each try, or at least it should.

This daily puzzle solver was the brainchild of software engineer Josh Wardle, who began working on his love job with partner Palak Shah in 2013. He completed the project during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The game launched in late 2021 as a pun on his last name and quickly became a part of people’s daily lives around the world. In just a few months it grew from being played by a few dozen people to tens of millions, and its global reach was assured when it was purchased by The New York Times for an undisclosed sum.

Wordle has also inspired a number of other daily puzzles, such as the globetrotting game Worldle and the math-based Nerdle.
