Rita Ora’s song ‘Finish Line’, written by Diane Warren, celebrates 50 years of Title IX and serves as the anthem for the Fifty/50 docuseries

LOS ANGELES – Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution Networks and Hollywood Records announced the release of the new song “Finish Line” on Friday, performed by global superstar Rita Ora and written by award-winning songwriter Diane Warren.

An exclusive clip from the music video premiered Sunday during ABC’s “American Idol.” Emmy Award-winning producer and host Ryan Seacrest interviewed Ora and Warren live.

“Finish Line” is a women’s empowerment anthem that will support “37 Words,” a four-part ESPN docuseries from documentary filmmakers Dawn Porter and Nicole Newnham, as part of The Walt Disney Company’s Fifty/50 initiative directed on ESPN. The Fifty/50 initiative commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in any educational institution that receives federal funds and gives women equal opportunities to play.

A female-led executive and creative team came together to ensure diverse women spearheaded all elements of the “Finish Line” production. The collaboration is an intentional nod of empowerment and respect to the women of Title IX who broke down barriers and paved the way for so many. The project was led by Adrianne Anderson, KABC-TV’s vice president of content development and marketing, and Nzinga Blake, executive producer of race and culture for ABC Owned Television Stations.

Together, the ABC team decided to harness the power of the Disney brand, leveraging internal resources and talent to launch this project. In an unprecedented move, the station crew made the decision to produce and direct the music video in-house and work with Disney Music Group’s Hollywood Records to produce the song, in close collaboration with ESPN.

“Finish Line” was released Friday on all streaming music services. Fans can watch an exclusive music video clip when “American Idol” airs live, coast-to-coast, on Sunday, May 15 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT/5:00-7:00 p.m. PDT). ), in ABC.
