President Biden Addresses Nationwide Baby Formula Shortage With Plans To Increase Supply As Soon As Possible

As the nation continues to grapple with a troubling shortage of baby formula, Americans are increasingly calling on President Biden to step in and fix the problem, and he recently addressed the nation with what he plans to do about it. Beginning by calling out critics who believe he should have acted sooner, President Biden quickly explained his administration’s plan to ensure baby formula in the US becomes plentiful again sooner rather than later.

Speaking from the White House, President Biden defended his administration’s response to months-long baby formula shortages by stating that they “moved as fast as a problem became apparent to us.” Biden also responded by saying that the only way the administration could have acted sooner is: “If we had been better at reading minds, I guess we could have,” he said.

The president also noted the urgency of the problem, explaining that the federal government must “act cautiously and quickly…” to “make sure that what we are receiving is, in fact, a premium product.”

Additionally, Biden also posted a video message from his address on his Twitter account with a caption that read:

“I know that families across the country are concerned about the availability of infant formula. That is why I brought the manufacturers together yesterday to discuss how we can increase supply as soon as possible.”

As we previously reported, some states are seeing more shortages than others. Texas has a 53% shortage in infant formula products and Tennessee is 54%. At least 26 states were also reported to be experiencing nearly 50% shortages.
