After two years, a pandemic, a new Hulu show, a major hair color transformation, and a baby, Kendall and Kylie are back with a new collection. In case you weren’t aware, it’s safe to say that everyone was very excited about the new makeup collection, which features an all-matte eyeshadow palette, lipsticks, blushes, highlighters, and a gloss.
The vibe is, of course, a perfect blend of the two iconic sisters: there’s the more natural choices that Kendall is known for and an ode to Insta-beat glam that Kylie regularly slays. Naturally, we were intrigued to try it out, especially since the first collection was a total success. Here’s our honest review…
What it is: A dead moment. Each palette contains 18 super-pigmented buttery mattes in warm and cool tones. The shadows are soft, easy to blend and long-lasting. From vibrant pink hues to neutral tones, there is a wide range of shades to help you create a variety of looks.
Our thoughts: Okay, first let’s address the obvious: everything is matte. We have to admit, she was surprised to see no shimmer, but according to Kylie, Kendall insisted on an all-matte palette and clearly won that debate. As much as we love a totally matte look, we would have loved to see more formulas, especially since the powder highlighter was so pretty, but more on that later…
As soon as we dipped our smudged blush into the powder, we could see some fallout. And this was most obvious on application, however, with that being said, the shadows blended well and are very well pigmented. We also liked the selection of shades and appreciated the mix of warm and cool tones. Another thing we liked was the use of neutrals that allowed for a neutral eye with a cut crease, as well as black and brown tones for a smoky wing. However, it would have been nice to see some more colorful shades, as we love experimenting with bold-toned ATMs. We also love the shadow names. They are so funny and cute, like Jenner Genes and Big Sister.
We created a warm smoky eye moment, and the look really stuck. Our main advice? Do your eyeshadow before you do your complexion to prevent the fallout from building up on a freshly laid complexion.
What it is: The limited-edition quad features two cream and powder blush shades and two highlighters, also in cream and powder formulas.
Our thoughts: First of all, we love that there are two formulas for each product, so you can easily switch between them depending on your makeup style. The two highlighters were super pretty. The pigment payoff of the powder formula is impressive and it left our skin with a really impressive golden glow. The cream formula effortlessly melts onto skin and has a naturally dewy finish that’s perfect for those days when less is more makeup.
As for blush, the berry-toned cream blush was our favorite. It is well pigmented so be careful! Just by rubbing a bit on the high points of our face, it instantly swept up our cheekbones for a rosy glow. The powder blush shade is nice for lighter skin tones, however on medium to rich skin tones it gives an ashy appearance.
We also have to take a minute to appreciate the packaging. The extra-large mirror is great for touching up makeup on the go, and it has this cool magnetic closure, which as beauty nerds, we find exciting. He’s giving us NARS vibes and we’re not mad!
What it is: A non-drying creamy matte crayon in three highly pigmented pink shades. The new velvety formula is stain resistant, super comfortable and of course long lasting.
Our thoughts: We immediately fell in love with these three shades. They are so pretty! Plus, we tried them on a variety of skin tones and they were universally flattering. As for the formula, it glides on the lips and feels really creamy and comfortable. One person in our office noticed that it felt a bit dry on their lips, so make sure your lips are moisturized before applying.
Once we gave it time to settle, it didn’t transfer either, which is a big plus. Thanks to the crayon tip, it’s also super easy to apply and reapply, making it our new in-bag staple. Plus, since you get three for $32, it’s less than $11 each.
What it is: A lightweight, high-shine lip gloss in a shimmering peachy nude shade. Formulated with peppermint oil, it has a cool, minty feel for fuller, fuller-looking lips.
Our thoughts: After applying the gloss, we wouldn’t say it’s that light as it has quite a rich consistency. That said, it doesn’t feel sticky and has a fresh, shimmery finish. Since the hue is very peachy, it altered the color of the crayons when we placed it on top, so keep that in mind if you’re playing. On its own, it’s such a pretty shade and looks good on both fair and rich skin tones.
Our final thoughts: Overall, we like the collection and the packaging is cute. The shades and formulas are really pretty and will definitely come in handy for everyday makeup looks.
