The driver of the roadster was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigations suggest that the roadster suddenly swerved and collided with the caravan. RCMP says the driver may have suffered a medical event.

The motorcade driver was reported to be in shock, but was not seriously injured. The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
