The number of people hospitalized with Covid-19 has fallen to the lowest level this year.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly referred to the decline as a “significant milestone”. Donnelly said hospitalizations for the disease had fallen below 500.
On Saturday, the numbers of people hospitalized with the virus fell to the lowest level so far this year, with 532 patients hospitalized at 8 a.m. And on Sunday 496 were in hospital with coronavirus at 2 p.m.
“All the data is trending in the right direction. Fewer and fewer Covid patients admitted to the ICU [intensive care]that he had 40 covid patients as of this afternoon,” Donnelly said.
The data indicated that University Hospital Limerick had the highest number of patients with the disease, with 48, followed by University Hospital Waterford, which had 39.
Portlaoise hospital had the fewest number of patients, two. The children’s hospitals, CHI Tallaght and CHI Temple Street, did not register any Covid-19 patients on Sunday.
