Mega Millions jackpot grows to $131 million

Although Tuesday’s Mega Millions lottery drawing didn’t result in any winners of the $112 million jackpot, there was one player who became an instant millionaire that night.

The winning numbers drawn on Tuesday May 17 were 7, 21, 24, 41, 65, with a gold Mega Ball of 24. The Megaplier was 4X.

The unclaimed jackpot on Tuesday night was worth an estimated $112 million with a $64.1 million cash option.

The Mega Millions jackpot has now grown to an estimated $131 million with a cash value of $74.9 million. The next lottery drawing will take place on Friday, May 20 at 11 pm ET.

On Tuesday, a Florida player took home a $4 million prize for matching five numbers with a Megaplier purchase. Players who only matched four numbers would have walked away with a $1 million prize.

There were nine players who matched Match 4 plus the golden Mega Ball which won $10,000. However, only four players matched four numbers plus the gold Mega Ball with the 4X Megaplier, winning 40,000. The rest of the night’s prizes ranged from $2 to $2,000.

The latest Mega Millions jackpot comes after a man living in Walt Disney World’s Golden Oak community in Florida won a $1 million prize from the April 12 drawing.

According to WFTV, an ABC affiliate station, the 51-year-old bought the ticket, which matched the five numbers on the cue ball, at a gas station. The retailer received an additional commission of $1,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Jackpot winners can receive their grand prize winnings through a lump sum payment or an annuity. Those who choose the annuity receive an immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.

Mega Millions can be played in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands.
