Louisiana parents charged with murder after daughter found ‘melted’ dead on couch – New York Daily News

A Louisiana couple who allegedly left their daughter on a couch for 12 years, surrounded by maggots and feces, until she died, have been charged with murder.

Clay and Sheila Fletcher were indicted on Monday for second-degree murder by a grand jury in the January death of their 36-year-old daughter, Lacey.

Lacey was found dead in her East Feliciana Parish home on January 3, “melted” on the couch after sinking through the upholstery from lack of movement, WBRZ previously reported. She weighed only 96 pounds and was covered in her own urine and feces.

A coroner said he died of “acute medical negligence.”

District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla told the Advocate Lacey’s parents said she had Asperger’s and suffered from social anxiety that she developed in high school. They claimed that she was cleaned regularly, but did not take her for medical treatment because she was not sick.

Neighbors told WBRZ that they hadn’t seen Lacey in five or six years.

If convicted, the Fletchers face life in prison without parole.
