Long airline waits await travelers as airports iron out problems

Like any other industry, the pandemic has upended air travel, forcing some airports to close, turning others into ghost towns for extended periods and bringing some airlines to a standstill.

This week’s Down to Business takes a look at the business of flying and takes a look at what’s happening at airports today amid reports of long lines and long waits.

Guests included Mike McNaney, vice president and director of external affairs for YVR, Vancouver Airport Authority; Wesley Lesosky, President of the Air Canada Component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents some 9,500 Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flight attendants, and also President of the Airline Division of CUPE, which represents some 15,000 flight attendants from nine airlines Canadians; Barry Rempel, who retired as President and CEO of the Winnipeg Airports Authority in September 2021; and Rian Burger, senior director and aviation architect at Stantec Inc.
