kyiv: Ukrainian Official: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Meets High-Level US Delegation

KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in kyiv, his office said on Sunday.
It was the first meeting between Zelensky and US officials since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
“Today, the Ukrainian people are united and strong, and the friendship and partnership between Ukraine and the US are stronger than ever.” Zelensky tweeted on Sunday.
Presidential aide Oleksiy Arestovych, speaking during a YouTube interview earlier Sunday, confirmed that the meeting was ongoing.
“Talk to the president. Maybe they can help.” he added she.
Arestovych repeated Ukraine’s call for offensive arms, “because as long as there are no ‘offensives,’ there will be a new Bucha every day,” he added, referring to the city where UN officials said they documented the unlawful killings of some 50 people. civilians
“They wouldn’t come here if they weren’t ready to give (weapons),” he said of visiting US officials.
On Saturday, Zelensky said he was grateful for the help Washington had given Ukraine so far, even if he wanted heavier, more powerful weapons to use against Russian forces.
During his YouTube interview, Arestovych said that in the Black Sea port of Mariupol, where the remaining Ukrainian forces are surrounded, the defense was “on the brink of collapse.”
