An animal welfare organization is asking residents of Arlington, Virginia for information after a crow was found shot with a blowgun.

It happened Tuesday morning in the Fairlington area. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) said he received several calls about a crow that had been shot.

League animal control officers found the raven and brought it to the league office, where staff clipped the barb from the dart and performed basic care on the wound, according to an AWLA news release.

Raven will undergo surgery to remove the dart, but the league said there is a chance Raven may not survive.

Crows are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Act, the league said. It is asking anyone who saw what happened to call the AWLA animal control team at 703-931-9241.
