Increased sales of gift packaging at the news agency

After purchasing the business late last year, we replaced the gift packaging vendor, moved the category from the back of the store to the counter side to be the introductory card category, and replaced accessories with a more modern and easy to buy. Getting closer.

This is what it looks like.

Sales are up more than 250%. Inventory investment is up 10% and space investment is the same.

Although the majority of our clients are individuals, we do have some corporate clients. On Wednesday of last week, a corporate customer walked in and bought 15 bags…because they noticed the variety when they were buying something else.

The balance in the range is key that we are finding. For BalanceI am referring to the offer of bags, roll wrap, sheet wrap, flat wrap and premium tissue. Enough people invest enough in how the gift looks that we can offer what we offer.

Being literally next to the counter is good because we can easily help shoppers see what they might be missing. Previously, this location had a card segment that was not performing as well.

The glass shelf allows us to keep the display tidy. It also causes the product to stop.

There is nothing unique here, nothing that cannot be easily copied.

This is a field of dreams move. By that I mean it is something that will attract buyers. You know, Build it and they will come. The new range of gift packaging is attracting new buyers thanks to the ease of viewing, word of mouth and our social media posts. It’s one of the threads of our new client strategy, which I wrote about here earlier.

What makes the focus on gift packaging more important is the margin. It is more than 60%. The turnover rate is such that this category is one of our best performers, making cash flow beneficial. All of these factors matter.

Too often, vendors forget to release at the stock turn. For me, stock turnover is just as important as margin. Get the two right, and in sync, and you’ll have some great times.

We are delighted with the outcome of the bags and are grateful to work with a supplier who has so willingly and committedly partnered with us on this project.
