Ten Hag reveals first contact with United players

It won’t be long before Erik ten Hag takes his first steps through the doors of Old Trafford as United’s new manager. With his spell at Ajax ending on Sunday, the 52-year-old is expected to arrive in Manchester very soon.

The Dutchman is not expected to arrive in England this week, but has confirmed that he has started work on his plans for next season. Ten Hag revealed in an interview that he had agreed a start date with United for May 16 (yesterday).

While he won’t be meeting his new players this week, Ten Hag has already contacted at least a few members of the team. United’s incoming boss revealed that some players contacted him on WhatsApp when they welcomed him to the club.

De Jong and Timber send a message to Ten Hag

Ten Hag certainly made quite an impression during his time at Ajax. United’s incoming boss is responsible for re-establishing the Amsterdam giants as the top dogs in the Netherlands, as well as a major force in Europe.

As he bids farewell to the club, Ajax has created a special video featuring various stars past and present, who were helped onto the big stage by Ten Hag. Among the faces that appeared were a couple of players who are sure to pique the interest of United fans.

Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber sent their own messages to wish Ten Hag well on his next adventure. The former is of course a target for United this summer, while the latter intends to follow his former manager to Old Trafford.
