Donegal crash victim is an ‘everyman with a great attitude’

A man who died in a two-car collision on a remote Donegal road has been described as “a down-to-earth chap who always had a smile on his face”.

Jim Kenny (42), father of two from Malin Head, died instantly after the collision Monday night.

Mr. Kenny worked with HML Transport.

Neighbor and friend Ali Farren said Kenny liked nothing better than calling people to catch up on the latest news. A surprised Mr. Farren said: “He was a quiet guy who always had a smile on his face, that’s what you can say about Jim. He loved visiting people, chatting and catching up. He was a very ordinary person who lived his life with a great attitude. He will be deeply missed.”

Mr. Farren said that Jim liked to kayak with his partner Caroline and also liked to ride motorcycles and was a big fan of heavy metal music.

Mr Kenny’s black Skoda Octavia collided with an Opel Meriva car on Mountain Road between Buncrana and Carndonagh.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment for their injuries. The condition of the passenger, a woman in her 30s, is described as serious and she has been taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
