Diogo Dalot signals when Manchester United’s mood will change under Erik ten Hag

Diogo Dalot believes the Manchester United team will be excited to start working with Erik ten Hag in pre-season.

United confirmed the appointment of Ten Hag as their next permanent manager last month after agreeing a £1.7m deal to release him from his contract with Ajax. The 52-year-old signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford with the option of a further 12 months.

After winning the Eredivisie title this week, the Dutchman has just one more game in charge of Ajax before he can turn his attention to the huge task he faces at United after another dismal season. United will embark on a pre-season tour in July that will see them travel to Thailand and Australia to play friendlies against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace.

Dalot believes the tour will be the perfect opportunity for the team to turn the page as they start working with their new manager.

“The fact that there is a tour is a good opportunity for everyone,” he told United’s internal media. “A new beginning, a new chapter, a new era.

“So I think everyone will be excited, I’m sure the manager will be excited to work with us as well. We need to build everyone as a team, as a group, as a club, and hopefully next season we can.” be solid and start the season well with a very good coach.

Dalot has also outlined his personal goal of adapting to Ten Hag’s demands for players in the wing position as quickly as possible once the new boss arrives.

“I think the full-back position has been growing a lot in terms of the game and within the game,” the Portuguese added. “For me, it has been a very good journey to have different coaches, different ideas, to be able to adapt in every situation.

“I am sure that with the new coach I will try to adapt quickly and show him that I can help this team, this club, and I think that is the mentality that everyone will have. In the end we all want to play, but the first thing is the team “.
