A PARENT was beaten to death in a 15-second terror attack by teenagers who joked he looked like Ant or Dec, a court heard today.
Danny Humble, 35, was on his way home with his partner Adele Stubbs after a night out when the gang attacked him, it is said.
He suffered a “catastrophic” head injury when the group, aged between 16 and 18, allegedly repeatedly kicked the ground near an underpass.
Adele “desperately but unsuccessfully” to save her partner after finding him unconscious in a pool of blood, but his injuries were insurmountable.
Newcastle Crown Court listened as the gang surrounded Danny and told him he looked like Ant or Dec.
The father responded, “Yeah, great, guys,” before one joked, “Can I have your autograph? You guys are my inspiration.”
Adele said she heard Danny ask “What did you say?” before the teenagers approached him, she pleads.
The jury was told that he was hit with a superior cut when he was separated from his partner in Cramlington, Northumberland.
A witness told police: “They didn’t miss a part of his body, they were all moving around his body, kicking him.”
The fatal attack in May of last year took just 15 seconds.
The court heard how some of the defendants stayed behind after one of the 17-year-olds appeared to cry.
They eventually fled the scene when emergency services were called, it was said.
Ethan Scott, Alistair Dickson, Izaak Little, Kyros Robinson and Bailey Wilson, all 18, and two 17-year-olds whose names cannot be identified deny murder.
The trial continues.
