Britain’s Simon Yates prepares for the brutal stage of the Giro d’Italia at Blockhaus

HThat and welcome to our live rolling blog from stage nine of the Giro d’Italia, the 191-kilometre race from Isernia to Blockhaus.

After yesterday’s stage through Naples, won by the evergreen Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal) after a breakaway, there were no changes at the top of each of the major classifications and so John Peter Lopez (Trek-Segafredo), Arnaud Demare (Grupama-FDJ), Koen Bowman (Jumbo-Visma) will wear the pink, cyclamen and blue jerseys respectively as leader of the general classification, points and mountains. As second in the youth classification, Mauri Vansevenant (Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl) will wear the white jersey on behalf of López.
