The winners were awarded for their contributions throughout the province
Perusing the list of winners for the BC Achievement Foundation’s 19th Annual Community Awards is a great way to feel like you’re not doing enough.
Recipients come from industries and locations across BC and were selected by “an independent jury of community leaders from across British Columbia,” according to the foundation.
This year’s honorees include names like Jim Good, who has been developing and maintaining Price George’s Goodsir Nature Park for more than 30 years, Dr. Vivian WL Tsang, a Vancouver resident who created the HOPE Initiative Foundation to helping young people get involved in community service, and Victoria, mental health advocate and social work professional, Baylie McKnight.
“We are incredibly proud to celebrate the work of these 20 individuals, who shine as examples of dedication and service,” Anne Giardini, president of the BC Achievement Foundation, said in a statement.
“It is heartening to see these community leaders, visionaries, innovators and volunteers continuing to work to make the world a better place while lighting a path of achievement for other British Columbians to follow.”
Premier John Horgan also weighed in, saying the recipients have “devoted their time and energy to helping their friends and neighbors, and British Columbia is a better province because of them.”
