The Prime Minister was there to make a $99 million election ad and sell his image as a new man, but it was a junior football player in Melbourne who stole the show.

The Prime Minister was there to make a $99 million election ad and sell his image as a new man, but it was a junior football player in Melbourne who stole the show.

Dylan Kannegiesser, 11, was hoping to spend a Saturday morning at Norwood Football Clubs but ended up in the entourage of the nation’s leader.

The 12-year-old junior football player with red hair caught the attention of viewers tuning in to the campaign’s daily press conference when he was seen jumping up and down on the spot behind the Prime Minister. (See the video in the player above).

He was so active in front of the cameras that some thought the rebounds were for sheer excitement.

But the Melbourne weather turned out to be a real factor as the rain turned conditions from cold to freezing.

Eventually, Dylan had enough, going shopping for a hoodie before jumping right in front of the cameras.

It could be the start of a glittering media career for the 11-year-old, who also turned heads as the Prime Minister joined the Norwood Footy Club for exercises and training.

He made his way to the front for a group selfie and was even seen high-fiveing Mr. Morrison after the leader showed off his kick technique.

Dylan said that it had been exciting to meet the Prime Minister in person on the football pitch.

The Coalition Leader was in North Melbourne to push through a $20 million funding commitment that will expand free sports for young Australians.
