1841 Broadway rises past the Halfway Mark on the Upper West Side of Manhattan

Construction has passed the halfway point at 1841 Broadway, a 25-story residential tower on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by INC Architecture & Design with SLCE Architects as architect of record and developed by Global Holdings Management Group, the 281-foot-tall structure will produce 180,813 square feet with 173 affordable and market-rate housing units, as well as 11,741 square feet of retail space. commercials in the first two levels. Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor and DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant for the property, which is located on the corner of Broadway and West 60th Street, just north of Columbus Circle and the southwest corner of Central Park.

The reinforced concrete superstructure has risen steadily since our last update in late March, when the work had just surpassed the height of the podium levels. The tower is now more than halfway up its parapet, and could possibly peak this summer.

Work has also begun on the dark brick façade, which is being installed along the wide south façade, as well as the metal stud framing and insulation behind the building mesh assembly. Industrial-style windows will follow suit.

The following shots from above show the scale of the project and its use of its land at the north end of Columbus Circle. Residents will certainly have good views of the surrounding neighborhood, Central Park, and Billionaires’ Row.

Renderings show the mass with distinctive curved corners at the east end, the effect of which is enhanced by the horizontal bands of brick separating the window levels. Vertically pleated metal panels form the rest of the grid between the floor-to-ceiling glass. The commercial space has high ceilings and much taller windows that cover the first two floors of the multi-story podium. YIMBY last reported that residential amenities and mechanical space will be located within the sub-basement and basement levels of the property.
